Peardeck
What is Peardeck?
  • Peardeck is an add-on extension to Google Slides. It allows teachers to create interactive presentations for their students to either do individually and self-paced or as an entire class.
Positives:
  • It is highly interactive.
Students are able to respond to questions in a variety of ways: including dragging an icon to the correct answer, responding to a prompt with a short answer, and a multiple choice question style of response.

  • It is individual! Students are only able to see their responses. There is an option for teachers to show any of the responses in front of the class, but everything is anonymous. Teachers do have access to see names attached to student responses - allowing for personal check-ins as needed.

Negatives:
  • In order for students to get the most out of each Peardeck, it is crucial that they engage. Unfortunately, there is no way to require each student to fill out all of the questions.

  • Premium account status unlocks the best features. Most of the fun and interactive elements - Draggables - are only accessible through a premium account. Luckily, through the use of my Gustavus email, I was able to unlock all of the features.

How to Use in The Classroom:
  • Peardeck makes a great review and check-in tool. It can be used as a unit pre-quiz or as a mid-unit check in. In my example, I have it being used a Review for the Midwest States and Capitals. There also is a section at the end for students to reflect on the activity and to privately ask me any questions.
